New luxury vehicle subscription service launches in Metro Vancouver

New luxury vehicle subscription lets you drive 4 swish rides each month

While the chance to drive just one-high end luxury vehicle might be enough of a draw for many people, a new program recently launched in Metro Vancouver is giving motorists the opportunity to drive up to four different vehicles from nine different brands per month.

Billed as the first all-inclusive, multi-brand “luxury car subscription service” in Canada, and created by automotive retail company OpenRoad Auto Group, Portfolio was recently unveiled at the company’s Audi dealership in Burnaby.

The service gives subscribers access to as many 25 new-model cars, representing over nine different luxury brands, while offering the opportunity to change vehicles up to four times per month (flips) all with the swipe of their smartphone and 24 hours notice.

“These days consumers are seeking more variety in their driving experience beyond the traditional car ownership model,” said Christian Chia, CEO of OpenRoad Auto Group. “We’re excited to be able to offer a new option that will be attractive to a growing consumer segment.”

To help make Portfolio a reality, Open Road said it partnered with Clutch Technologies, a leading software platform provider with a “proven track record” for helping many US-based companies deploy successful car subscription programs.

“Given the success of the program, the company has plans to expand the service from high end luxury to a mid-level line up of cars by next year,” said OpenRoad.

Subscribers can choose from three exclusive packages – $2,499 per month for six months, $2,999 for three months or $3,499 for a month-to-month subscription. There is also a one-time initiation fee of $750. Drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old and have a clean driving record.

Every subscription includes rights to a vehicle full-time, insurance, maintenance, roadside assistance, and a full tank of gas. If a subscriber returns a vehicle without refuelling the tank, the concierge will refill the vehicle and charge the subscriber’s account.

Subscribers are hand-delivered the vehicles by the Portfolio Concierge team, with no restrictions on when and where, and with no requirement to tip the concierge. Members can keep a vehicle as long as they want, under the terms of their contract. There are no restrictions on how long or short flips can be.

Subscriptions can also be paused on an as-needed basis to allow subscribers to enjoy things like vacations away from home. Subscriptions can be cancelled and will end after the current month of the subscription has expired.

As of right now, Portfolio is accepting registration from members in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. The first cars are scheduled to be delivered on January 1, 2019.
