VBCE celebrates 25 Year milestone

Dec 19 2017, 8:04 pm

In 1989, Vancouver and the Province of British Columbia were experiencing unprecedented growth. Thanks to the wildly successful Expo 86 three years earlier, Vancouver was quickly becoming more than a quaint seaside city, it was being transformed into a global hub for pleasure and business.

While some travelers were flocking to our mountains and ocean to revel in the majesty of Supernatural B.C, others were looking to forge business relationships and create opportunities for international trade and investment.

Tony Ma from Vancouver Bullion & Currency Exchange (VBCE) recalls the business climate in 1989:

“The Numismatic Coin and Stamp business was declining and we were looking for a new business opportunity. I had some foreign exchange experience with buying coins and stamps internationally. I saw the increase in demand just from my previous business alone, so I decided to get into this new venture when I had the opportunity to hire the right people in this fairly upstart segment in Canada.

At the time we saw a need for our service because there were no financial institutions specializing in foreign exchange. The banks delivered limited service, the rate spreads were wide and retail foreign cash just wasn’t readily available. The demand for our services such as USA and International payments continued to increase year by year with NAFTA being signed and then with the introduction of the internet, it just wasn’t a Canadian economy anymore but worldwide.

Over time we also experienced periods of weakened worldly economies and turbulent geo political wars that drove the price of gold and silver to have giant leaps of success.”

VBCE is celebrating 25 years in business. They were established to help investors and travelers make sense of the ever changing international markets by creating a safe environment for exchange. Over the past quarter century, VBCE has become the leading foreign exchange company in Western Canada and one of the most trusted institutions of its kind in the world.

VBCE delivers foreign exchange at the retail level, payment and exchange methods for individuals and corporations as well as an online platform. Recently it has introduced online international payments and will soon be launching an online foreign cash service for travelers.

The company knows the future lies in a world accessible to everyone, and as international markets evolve, and frequency and ease of travel increases, VBCE will be there—so that when Vancouverites and British Columbians need to invest in, purchase, or exchange currency they will have local experts to help them. VBCE would like to thank past clients for their patronage and look forward to serving them along with future clients for the next 25+ years.

“Vancouver Bullion & Currency Exchange would like to thank all of its loyal clients and customers for trusting in us to provide the best foreign exchange rates and service for the past 25 years. We work hard to help you save money for your business, personal payments and travel adventures.”
