On Saturday, March 1st, acclaimed Vancouver burlesque troupe, The VanDolls, will be celebrating The Oscars by turning award winning films into live action burlesque with The VanDolls at The Movies.

The event, taking place at The Legion on Commercial Drive, celebrates over 70 years of award winning movies with a dozen performances based on films like The Great Ziegfeld, Titanic and Black Swan. The show will go on the day before the anticipated 86th Annual Academy Awards.

“We are a diverse group of performers that specialize in everything from comedy to classic. Parodying movies from a bunch of different genres seemed like the perfect fit for our troupe.” Said Rufflesilkskin, one of The Dolls founding members.

The show will be hosted by April O’Peel and Tyler James Nicol. April was recently voted amongst the top 10 burlesque performers in Canada and holds the 2012 title of Most Comedic from The Burlesque Hall of Fame. Tyler is a local writer and producer who has created many award winning stage shows.
