While the Lower Mainland’s mountains are up and running on New Year’s Day, keep in mind that lift tickets and reservations must be secured in advance.

Not to worry: A number of fast food and convenience store chains are still open on New Year’s Day, including Starbucks, McDonald’s, select Subways, Tim Hortons, and 7-11.

City Square (open from noon to 5 pm)
International Village (open from 10 am to 8 pm)
Oakridge (open from 11:00 am to 6 pm)

Post Offices

Post offices operated privately may be open if the host business is open; otherwise, all Canada Post offices will be closed
