Vancouver’s vibrant Japanese community will be front and centre at the Powell Street Festival this August.
The festival will celebrate Japanese culture, arts, and heritage at both indoor and outdoor venues along Powell Street.
Running since 1977, this August will mark 41 years of the Powell Street Festival taking place in Vancouver.
The two day event will include martial arts demonstrations, an amateur sumo tournament, children’s activities, walking tours of the historic neighbourhood, Japanese food, and more.
The event is free for all to attend, runs from Saturday, August 5 to Sunday, August 6, and begins at 11:30 am.
Past festivals have brought in 16,000 people over the two days to experience the new works and artists that are showcased each year.
