Vancouver's pleasant greens vs. East Coast's snowpocalypse (PHOTOS)
As much as a metre of snow fell in the American Northeast since Monday evening, causing entire major cities from Boston to New York to Philadelphia to grind to a halt.
An estimated 60-million people were affected by the storm that was driven by subtropical moisture systems. In some areas, hurricane-force winds brought dangerous blizzard conditions and cut out power to entire communities during sub-zero temperatures. The storm also led to as many as 6,000 flight cancellations, and it is expected a full flight schedule recovery will take several days.
Ontario and Montreal escaped the wrath of Storm Juno, but it slammed eastern Quebec and the Maritimes with high winds and heavy snow.
Here in Vancouver, we could not help but compare what the weather has been like lately. Local records were shattered on Sunday and Monday when temperatures reached the balmy mid-teens.

Not the greatest weather for skiing
The balmy weather and Pineapple Express rainstorm has caused the North Shore Mountain’s snow conditions to deteriorate to large swaths of green, brown and even pools of water.
The freezing level is sitting far above the mountain peaks and only one centimetre of snow has fallen in the North Shore since the middle of the month.
