The plans for North East False Creek (NEFC) have been outlined for awhile by Concord Pacific. In fact we talked about Concord’s 2020 vision for NEFC and how drastically different that neighbourhood will be in the next 10 years (the plan calls for at least 2 ‘iconic’ buildings as seen here). Part of the development deal for that land is the promise of new park space, which this city desperately needs more of. Included in that park space is a new beach.
A new beach would be a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. Furthermore, if the viaducts remain, it looks as though basketball courts have been placed underneath them. I think that is also a great use of space and also will provide much needed court space in a city deprived of adequate outdoor sporting venues for the citizens.
Here is a teaser as to what the area will look like in the next 10 years.
