Finally Vancouver BMX and mountain bikers have a place to congregate and call theirs. With so many skate parks already in the city of Vancouver, it’s a wonder why a BMX bike park wasn’t opened a long time ago. However, all that changes as this Saturday October 2nd, at 11 am in Kitsilano’s Vanier Park the city will officially open its first bike park.

The BMX / mountain bike park was completed in September. It features formed dirt ramps, gaps and jumps that can be adjusted by users as needs arise as well as beginner, intermediate and expert tracks. There is a small pump track that will be expanded in the future as well as a spectator area for viewing riders featuring a big, comfy (concrete) couch. The success of the bike park relies on users to respect the dirt jumps by not riding when they are overly wet, spraying them down when they are dry and dusty, and grooming them when they are worn down.
