Valentine’s Day is almost here and while some Vancouverites are looking forward to the Canucks beating the Leafs this weekend, others are planning for a weekend of romance.
Leading up to the day of love, we asked Vancity Buzz readers to share their love stories with us, and what we received was a reminder that love actually does exist in this city.
Here’s a few of our favourite love stories on the moment our readers realized that their partner was the one.
The moment I realized I wanted to marry my husband was the first time he did the laundry and hung all my Lululemon! – Hailey A.
I realized he was the one because he annoys me more than anyone in the world, but I still love him so intensely. Over two years later and he still makes me laugh every second of the day, and makes me gourmet meals every night. I wouldn’t ever trade any of it, even when leaves two-three pairs of shoes at the door that I trip over everyday. – Kate M.
We were both listening to Scenario by A Tribe Called Quest on MSN. We messaged each other going back and forth rapping the lyrics, became best friends and have now been dating for almost a decade. – Anonymous
Someone said, ‘I want you to meet my friend, this is James.’ We shook hands, and the rest is history. – Sadie M.
My best friend had a birthday party. She introduced me to one particular guy and there was an instant connection. After her dinner party, everyone went their separate ways but James and I, along with two other friends, went for a stroll. We got to know each other and he asked if I could teach him how to speak Chinese. We joked and laughed and all of a sudden, he asked for my number and he texted me (in Chinese), “You are so beautiful.” – Samantha Y.
The moment I realized I could share the rest of my life with her was on one of those first warm spring days in the city. We had gone downtown to an Italian cafe for flatbread and spiked coffee, then walked to Sunset Beach. She was laying with her head on the small of my back staring at the sky, and I knew I could stay there like that forever. I am so lucky to have met her in a city where we can be together openly, and I can celebrate Valentine’s Day by sharing how much I love her. – Addison M.
I realized he was someone I wanted to share my life with when he had me seeing everything differently and with more clarity than ever before. It was the moment he urged me to stop mapping my entire future out and go with the flow. He encourages me to slow down, relax, and let life do what it’s supposed to do, while standing beside me through it all. That to me is a special kind of love. – Brenna W.
She was a mutual friend who I met when we were all out at a Giants game. I noticed her from the second I saw her because he radiated confidence. I finally built up the courage to say hello, and I haven’t let her go ever since. – Skyler L.
