Vancouverite giving a week's worth of meals to 150 sheltered women this Thanksgiving
A Vancouver entrepreneur is crowdfunding a week’s worth of meals for 150 women in need this Thanksgiving.
Ilya Brotzky is a 25-year-old Cornell graduate who founded tickett.co, a microfunding platform that allows anyone to directly donate to a member of their community. For this campaign, which lives on Tilt.com, Ilya partnered with Mark Brand Inc., creators of the Save on Meats token program that has fed over 27,000 people.
The goal over the next 8 days is to raise $2,362.50 in order to provide 150 meals to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre for a whole week. The DEWC Emergency Shelter is scrambling to feed the women who gather there to experience a sense of community, safety, and respect. It also provides basic necessities and much needed services to women in the Downtown Eastside.
The campaign has already raised enough to provide 50 meals to the shelter, and with less than a week until Thanksgiving Monday, Ilya is challenging all Vancouverites to fund 1 meal for only $2.25. You can donate here: http://tilt.tc/Y57I
