Free money puts smiles on faces of Vancouverites (VIDEO)

Most of the time when we line up for something as early as 6 a.m. it’s to give money to someone else, whether it be to Apple, XBox or Cineplex Theatres. But Coast Capital Savings just changed the game.

In case you missed out, hundreds lined up as early as 5 a.m. (some apparently even as early as 1 a.m.) on Thursday, May 28 for a chance to grab a little white piggy-bank stuffed full of cold hard cash. The dollar amounts inside the porcelain pig ranged from $5 to $1,000.

“There is no catch – just simple financial help,” said Lawrie Ferguson, Coast Capital Savings chief marketing and strategy officer.

“People are facing pretty hefty housing costs in the city and we want to give them a bit of a break – a little extra to help with other important financial goals,” added Ferguson.
