Vancouver woman gives birth in a taxi cab

Dec 19 2017, 4:51 pm

Early Sunday morning, a Vancouver taxi cab was the delivery room for a newborn baby.

The birth occurred just after 5 a.m. within minutes after the driver picked up a husband and wife. News 1130 spoke to the taxi cab driver Abdul Jabber who described the delivery as chaotic.

The husband kept asking Jabber to reach BC Women’s Hospital quickly even when there were red traffic lights and a bus in front of the car. However, he would not have minded if they had not paid their fare given the once-in-a-lifetime situation that was happening in his vehicle.

Upon arrival, doctors and nurses were waiting for them at the hospital’s entranceway. The newborn’s umbilical cord was cut in the back of the cab upon arrival.
