It’s been an exciting year so far for soccer fans in Vancouver. Whitecaps FC have had an explosive start to the season, sitting atop the MLS with a 4W-2L-1D record along with multiple sell-outs at BC Place.
And now, the growing fan base of ‘Caps fans have something else to cheer about. Last November, Whitecaps FC announced the launch of their very own USL side: Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) – who make history with their first ever home game at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium this Sunday, April 19 against Toronto FC II.

Single match tickets are only $15 (all general admission) and are available online or by phone at 1-855-6-GO-CAPS (1-855-646-2277). Over 2,000 tickets have already been sold for the first game, the club announced on Wednesday.
“This will be a season of firsts for WFC2,” said Whitecaps FC COO Rachel Lewis. “I still hear regularly from fans who fondly remember the first MLS match at Empire Field just over four years ago. You only get one chance to be at the first ever home opener. April 19 will be a landmark day as we kick off a fun and vibrant atmosphere at Thunderbird Stadium.”
WFC2 kicked off their inaugural season on March 29 against Seattle Sounders FC 2, and played three more games on the road in preparation for Sunday’s home opener.
Come watch the next generation of soccer stars as they continue to climb the ladder to the ‘Caps MLS team and to the Canadian men’s national team.
Match day
As part of the festival-like WFC2 match day experience, Thunderbird Stadium will include food trucks (including The Dog House, The Hungry Nomad and Roaming Bowl) and live music provided by local band Warless.
Doors open at 2 p.m. with kickoff set for 3 p.m.
