Salmon Send-Off

  • What: Release salmon into the Serpentine River, discover how salmon are raised in the hatchery and have fun with family activities. Concession and fundraising activities support hatchery operation.

Bears

  • What: A show about the Kinder Morgan Pipeline from out of Alberta, The Cultch presents this relevant Canadian original work this month. Bears is about the toll of economic and corporate greed on the land of Canadian First Nations peoples, and features primarily Indigenous artists.

London Heritage Farm Mother’s Day Tea

  • What: Celebrate Mother’s Day with high tea in the Tea Room at London Heritage Farm. A popular annual event for mothers, grandmothers, and their families. Enjoy London Farms own blend of London Lady tea, home-baked scones, London Farm jam/jelly, and homemade goodies. Coffee, hot chocolate, and juice are also available. Reservations recommended.

Art Smash Street Party

  • What: Granville Island is about to get more colourful thanks to nine new murals that will be unveiled at the Art Smash Street Party. At the heart of the installation, painted on the pillars of the bridge, will be a monumental mural designed by Musqueam artist Debra Sparrow. Other participating artists include Ruben Sanchez, an international artist visiting from Spain, and local artists, Sandeep Johal, JNasty, James Harry, Lauren Brevner, Eric Louie, Kari Kristensen, Victoria Sieczka, and KC Hall. The event will also feature live mural painting, live music from DJs, food trucks, a wide selection of beers from BC craft breweries, and live dance performances.

YMCA Mental Wellness Fair: Yoga & Mindful Eating

  • What: The YMCA’s Wellness Fair is a fundraiser designed to give you the space and time to take a moment for yourself. Registered clinical counsellor and certified yoga instructor Laura Burke, will guide attendees in a 1-hour yoga and mindfulness practice. Following the yoga practice learn about the health and wellness benefits of mindful eating in our interactive workshop lead by clinical dietician, Anna MacRae. All guests will receive swag bags filled with wellness goodies and healthy snacks, and the Canadian Mental Health Association and the YMCA’s Mental Wellness team will be in attendance to provide information on mental wellness resources in our community. All proceeds from this event go towards the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.

VTSL Mom = Wow – ‘The Mother of all Mother’s Day Shows’

  • What: This special event is sure to make mom literally laugh out loud, while VTS’s players explore every aspect of motherhood through short scenes. Re-visit the moments you and your mom have been trying to repress with “Momvolution – from new Mom to Grandmom.” Tickets to the show include a Henkell piccolo of bubbly or a glass of Mission Hill Five Vineyards Rosé (or a non-alcoholic beverage if preferred).
