Vancouver Web Fest: Redefining Entertainment One Screen at a Time

The Vancouver Web Fest is back! Vancouver’s 3-day celebration of everything web will be at Performance Works on March 6-8.

Founded by Executive Director Suzette Laqua, The Vancouver Web Fest (VWF) celebrates the progressive evolution of entertainment and programming created exclusively for the Internet. VWF will bring together International and Canadian web content creators, producers and viewers through an engaged and responsive forum that acknowledges the cultural significance of this revolutionary medium.

The three-day festival will host workshops, screenings, pitch sessions, galas, parties and facilitated panels featuring industry experts. This unique festival creates an experience that brings people together to discover extraordinary web series and web content from around the world, and is open to the public as well as industry professionals. VWF fosters a welcoming environment that encourages the exploration into new formats of storytelling and acts as a forerunner in web content.

Special Guests

As with any medium, web has its own trademark celebrities and big entities. VWF has scored some of the best and brightest for keynotes, workshops, and judging. Special guests include:

  • Dave Brown – Google Canada (Toronto, Canada)
  • Alessandro Di Francesco – (Rome, Italy)

Panel Highlight: Animal Central

What does a 130-lb tortoise, a white wolf, a tarantula, a snake, and an assortment of falcons have in common? They (and their handlers) will all be part of a special panel at VWF, called Exotic Animal Handlers: Taming Your ConcernsThe panel highlights the ins and outs of working with animals on-set, and experienced handlers will be coming from as far as California to share their experiences with the audience.

The panel will be followed by Family Screening on Sunday, making it a great morning for kids of all sizes! View all workshops here.
