Sep 8 2026, 5:53 pm

The weather forecast for the shortened work week ahead continues a recent trend for Vancouver, but a new weather system will soon soak the region.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), temperatures will remain mild near the water from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Thursday, Sept. 10, with highs reaching upwards of 19°C.

Further inland, temperatures will hit 24°C, or up to 27°C with the humidex. The UV index will reach up to 6 on Wednesday, or moderate.

Those living in or visiting Metro Vancouver this week will want to keep a rain jacket handy, as rain is expected to make its return.

“We will see a slight chance of showers on Thursday,” explained Morgen Shull, ECCC meteorologist. “And then on Friday going into Saturday, a weak low-pressure system is sliding down the coast.

“It may not be a deluge, but cooler temperatures and rain will come to the area. The system will push in on Friday and Saturday, with up to Sunday looking to be the wettest period.”

Though Sunday is expected to clear up, Shull warns that it may be a “cool and showery weekend” ahead.
