Last day of sunshine: Week of rainfall begins in Metro Vancouver this Saturday

Dec 20 2017, 4:49 am

Don’t squander what’s left of this week’s period of clear skies and sunshine as it will be the last for awhile. Temperatures will reach 15°C inland today, the last full day of sun for a week.

The high pressure system that brought fair weather to the Metro Vancouver region over the last two days will weaken earlier than anticipated. A week of rainfall beginning Saturday afternoon is forecasted, according to Environment Canada.

While rainfall in the city usually means snow up above, this week will be different. The freezing level will soar to nearly 2,000 metres through early next week, which means rainfall on the ski slopes.

There is a slight possibility for some snowfall in middle of the week, although that could be wet snow or mixed rain – unlike the heavy snowfalls seen earlier this month.
