Vancouver will be experiencing some near-freezing weather, and a B.C. highway has been hit with a snowfall warning just over a week away from the official start of spring.
According to the most recent seven-day forecast from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), temperatures will drop down to as low as 1˚C on Thursday night, hovering around that level for most of the week.

The high for the early part of next week is 10˚C.
Rain will rule most of the week, except for a break next Tuesday in the daytime. ECCC also says it’ll be a bit gusty over the next 48 hours, with wind speeds hovering between 20 and 30 km/h.

For folks travelling out to other parts of B.C., be warned that there’s a snowfall warning in place for the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt. The warning ends on Thursday afternoon, but due to a low-pressure system, around 15 cm of snowfall is expected.
ECCC says, “Snow will ease as the low passes this afternoon.”
“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.”
The spring equinox occurs on March 20. Does the weather put a damper on your spring break plans? Let us know in the comments!
