Vancouver’s own Vasek Pospisil is moving on to the men’s singles quarter-finals at Wimbledon after rallying back from being down two sets to none, defeating Serbia’s Viktor Troicki in five sets.
The unseeded 25-year-old came back for a 4-6, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 win over the No. 22 seed at the All England Club.
This marks the first time that Pospisil, the second ranked mens player in Canada, has made it past the third round in singles play at a Grand Slam. He’ll now go on to face either Britain’s Andy Murray, No. 3, or Croatia’s Ivo Karlovic, No. 23.
Pospisil is also the defending men’s doubles champion alongside American partner Jack Sock. The duo are scheduled to play their third round match today.
