Vancouver Vaisakhi Parade cancelled due to coronavirus pandemic

Mar 15 2020, 8:59 pm

The annual Vancouver Vaisakhi parade has been cancelled due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.

The parade was scheduled to happen on April 18, 2020. Each year this celebration draws over 150,000 spectators.

It’s the first time in the event’s 41-year history that it’s been cancelled. Organizers said they look forward to everyone’s participation and enjoyment in next year’s parade.

Last week the Surrey Vaisakhi parade was cancelled for the same reason.

With coronavirus on the rise, Health Canada is reminding individuals who attend events and large gatherings to monitor their health for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. And if you’re not feeling well, they recommend staying home at this time. Also, due to unexpected cancellations, please check the event you plan to attend is still taking place.
