18 movies and TV shows filming in Vancouver this January

While filming for most TV shows and movies was on temporary hiatus over the holiday season, this January some of your favourites stars will be back in town – and hard at work!

Here are 18 TV shows and movies filming in Vancouver this January.

Spontaneous will start filming in Vancouver this January through March. While there haven’t been any details on the plot just yet, the feature film will star Katherine Langford,Ā best known for playing main character Hannah from Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why.

Bad Times at the El Royale

Starring Chris Hemsworth and Jeff Bridges, Bad Times at the El Royale will begin filming in Vancouver at the end of January through to April. The movie is set in the 1960s and while the plot is being kept under wraps, it is said to be about a rundown hotel in California.

Noelle

Disney’s Noelle, also known as Nicole, has been filming in town the past few months, and is set to wrap upĀ production in mid-January. This festive flick stars Anna Kendrick, who plays Santa’s daughter and is called upon to take over the family business after her father retires. Noelle also stars Shirley MacLaine and Bill Hader.

Blue Book – Season 1

Set to premiere on the History channel in 2018, Blue BookĀ began filming its first season in Vancouver this past December and starsĀ Aidan Gillen, Laura Mennell, and Michael Harney.

This science fiction drama series is based around the investigations that were sponsored by the US Air Force regarding the UFO-related phenomena from the 50’s and 60’s, known by it’s nickname of “Project Blue Book”. Production is set to continue into April 2018.

The Good Doctor – Season 1

After a slight break, The Good Doctor will start up production again in Vancouver this January through to March.Ā Starring Freddie Highmore as main character Shaun Murphy, the show revolves around an autistic surgeon who thinks outside the box and is recruited to work at a prestigious hospital.

Colony – Season 3

With previous series being filmed in Los Angeles,Ā Colony will be in Vancouver to film its third season through February. Starring Sarah Wayne Callies and Josh Holloway, the series is a science-fiction drama set in the future after an alien invasion.

UnREAL – Season 4

Renewed for a fourth season this past July is UnREAL, a drama series that revolves around a reality dating show known as Everlasting. Shiri Appleby plays the producer for the show, Rachel Goldberg, who must get ratings up and does so by manipulating the game. UnREALĀ started filming in town in mid-October and will continue until the end of January.

The 100 – Season 5

The 100Ā has been in production in Vancouver for its fifth season, and will wrap up production at the end of January. The series centres around post-apocalypse survivors living on a space station, who end up sending down a group of juvenile prisoners to figure out if life can still exist on Earth.

Riverdale – Season 2

The hit show RiverdaleĀ will continue filming its second season in Metro Vancouver this January through March. The second season just aired this past October on The CW with new episodes weekly. Now that we know who killed Jason Blossom, who knows what else season two will have in store!

A Series of Unfortunate Events – Season 2 and 3

Calling all Neil Patrick Harris fans! NPH will be in the Vancouver area filming for season two and three ofĀ A Series of Unfortunate EventsĀ through April 2018.

Based on the books by Daniel Handler, the show follows the lives of Violet, Klaus and Sunny, three siblings who just lost their parents in a mysterious fire.

Life Sentence – Season 1

A new comedy drama series by The CW starring Lucy Hale started filming in Vancouver this past summer and will wrap up on January 12. Life SentenceĀ will follow main character Stella, played by Hale, who suddenly finds out her terminal cancer has been cured, and now she must live with the choices she made when she thought she was dying.

iZombie – Season 4

After being renewed for another season in May, iZombie returns to Vancouver to film its fourth season until mid January. The show is an adaptation of the comic books with the same name, and the series follows the life of Liv Moore who has been changed into a zombie and must satisfy her hunger to stay sane.

Once Upon a Time – Season 7

The fairytale continues in Steveston Village this January to film the latest instalment of Once Upon a Time. The seventhĀ season is said to be a total reboot and will feature all new season regulars, with a few of the old favourites returning like Rumplestiltskin and Captain Hook.

Supernatural – Season 13

Back for its 13th season, Supernatural will be filming in Metro Vancouver through April 2018. Starring Jared Padalecki andĀ Jensen Ackles, the series was renewed for another season in January and premiered on The CW at the beginning of October.

Arrow – Season 6

Arrow continues to shoot its sixth season in Vancouver through to April 2018, and star Stephen Amell was quoted saying that he hopes this new season will be more like the actual comics.

The Flash – Season 4


After a month break,Ā The Flash will be back on location in Vancouver filming for its fourth season through to April 2018. Episodes for season four began airing this past October on The CW.

Legends of Tomorrow – Season 3

Another The CW show filming in Vancouver through to February is Legends of Tomorrow. The series follows time master Rip Hunter who rallies together a group of heroes and villains to help prevent an apocalypseĀ from happening on earth and destroying all time.

Supergirl – Season 3


Supergirl is back to save the day! Season 3 of the hit series started filming in Vancouver over the summer and will continue through April.
