
Traffic into and through one of Vancouver’s most popular spots will be impacted by several road closures this long weekend for a massive sporting competition.
The annual Vancouver Triathlon returns on Monday, Sept. 1, with world-class athletes set to lace up their sneakers and strap on their swim goggles in Stanley Park.
According to the Vancouver Park Board, road closures will be in place in part of the West End as well as throughout the park.

Locals and commuters are advised of several Vancouver road closures for the event.
The Georgia Street lane will close from Denman to the entrance of Stanley Park from 6:30 to 11 a.m.
All roads throughout Stanley Park will also close for the Vancouver Triathlon from 6:30 to 11 a.m., though the seawall will remain open.
Athlete check-in and chip pickup begin at 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 1, and the awards presentation is slated to start at 12:30 p.m.

The 2025 Vancouver Triathlon begins with a run on Second Beach before diving in for a swim in English Bay. The standard length of the swim is 1.5 km, although there are also sprint and triathlon lengths available for participants to choose from.
Next up is a standard 37.6 km bicycle race through Stanley Park on Park Drive. The course is entirely closed off to vehicle traffic, and draft marshals and volunteers will be patrolling the course.

The triathlon wraps up with a standard 10 km run along English Bay, past First Beach and the Inukshuk to the turnaround under Burrard Bridge and back to Stanley Park.
Participants in this year’s Vancouver Triathlon also have the opportunity to raise funds for several charities of their choice, including the Stanley Park Ecology Society, Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver, Vancouver Lifeguard Association, and the Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon.
