There’s a reason why the rest of Canada doesn’t / can’t take Vancouver seriously when we talk about winter weather here on the West Coast.
While the city woke up today to a mix of sun and cloud, with temperatures hovering around the 6°C mark, Torontonians continued to battle the full wrath of Old Man Winter, waking up to temperatures of –14°C.

And while you might be thinking, “oh wow, that is cold,” that’s not even the worst of it.
According to Environment Canada, the prolonged period of very cold wind chills expected to reach Toronto today will result in wind chill values that will reach somewhere between -30°C and -35°C.
Now let this sink in: that’s a difference of nearly 40°C between the two cities.
While flowers continue to bloom and residents debate whether or not to wear a coat before heading outside here, those braving the elements in Toronto are bundled up in parkas and snow boots while trudging through the snow.
In fact, even going outside at all there isn’t recommended today.
So if that slight chill you felt in the air this morning had you thinking that “winter” is really here, be thankful at least any snow around our city stays on the mountains.
Of course, now that we’ve said that, there is a chance of rain-snow flurries this weekend, but with a low of 2°C, it’s likely it’ll just be drizzle.
In the meantime, check out the current state of Canada’s largest city.
