Dec 19 2017, 1:18 pm

Yesterday we told you that Vancouver has the best place for chocolate lovers in the world, today we reveal that our fair city has been named one of the world’s top 10 beach cities. In a world full of amazing beach cities, this is quite the acknowledgement. The National Geographic placed Vancouver in the number 10 spot for 2011.

Here is the blurb from National Geographic about Vancouver beaches:

Canada’s most adventurous metropolis is home to ten beaches, from the family-centric Jericho to the clothing-optional Wreck Beach, many of which offer commanding views of the Vancouver skyline and majestic North Shore Mountains. Sporty types prefer Kitsilano or “Kits,” a six-minute drive from downtown, for its free tennis and basketball courts, and its super-size heated saltwater pool.

Top 10 list:

  1. Barcelona, Spain
  2. Cape Town, South Africa
  3. Honolulu, Hawaii
  4. Nice, France
  5. Miami Beach, Florida
  6. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
