3 Vancouver shows that will help you end 2017 on a high note

Dec 5 2017, 4:30 am

There are just a few short weeks left in 2017, so you’re going to want to live it up.

Think parties and a lot of laughter.

On that note, Megan Markle may be engaged to Prince Harry, there’s another royal on the rise – HRM (Her Royal Meanness), The Christmas Queen. She’s back in Vancouver for the season, starring in not one, but two Vancouver TheatreSports (VTSL) holiday shows at The Improv Centre.

So whether you’re sugar-plum-fairy-sweet or a little bit of a Scrooge, there’s sure to be a show at VTSL to satisfy your comedy needs.

Christmas Queen 4

The Christmas Queen (CQ) show returns for the fourth instalment of your favourite holiday tradition, Secret Santa.

This year is no different, as CQ is determined to ruin Christmas – and she just might. In a Freaky Friday style switcheroo, Santa and the queen switch places.

Will there be miracles or mayhem? Will CQ take over the workshop and fill everyone’s stockings with crushed dreams and coal? Will Santa save the day?  Take a break from the usual holiday line-up and prepare to cackle with Christmas cheer as you find out at the show.

When: Wednesday through Saturdays, 7:30 pm (until December 23)

Christmas Queen Drag Race

Her Royal Meanness is gracing audiences with her presence in this year’s Christmas Queen Drag Race. This royally funny instalment is co-hosted by The Unstoppable Conni Smudge, as the two queens take over the stage while the VTSL ensemble competes to win a delightful drag makeover. The wicked wit alone will leave you in outrageous outbursts of laughter.

This late-late show is only happening for a limited time so you don’t want to miss it. Bring your friends who you know are on the naughty list, as this show is rated NC-17.

When: Saturdays, 11:15 pm (December 9, 16, and 23)
