Vancouver strip club makes sassy jab at Trump after Canada's 4 Nations victory

A Vancouver strip club known for sharing comedic and clever marquee signs is back at it again with a message for the U.S. following Team Canada’s epic 4 Nations championship win against their American hockey rivals.
If you happen to pass by The Penthouse in downtown Vancouver, its marquee now reads, “The Gulf of Canada has a nice ring,” which references U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent executive order to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.

It also reflects the build-up of tension ahead of the much-anticipated championship game, as Trump continued his trolling and rhetoric about Canada becoming the 51st state in his message to Team USA before Thursday’s puck drop.
But as the hockey gods would have it, Team Canada took home the hardware after a nail-biting overtime goal from Connor McDavid.
The Penthouse wasted no time changing its sign to celebrate Team Canada’s sweet victory, sharing a photo of the updated marquee with the caption “The 11th province does too 🇨🇦” on Instagram.

This isn’t the first time The Penthouse has put up cheeky signage about the Trump comments targeting Canada.
In January, its marquee read “Forever Neighbours, Never Neighbors.”

The line referenced different American versus Canadian spellings for certain words — and in opposition to Trump’s desire to make Canada join the U.S.
While the strip club went viral for its clever quip, it landed in hot water with X after its account was suspended from the social media platform for violating its “hateful profile policy.”
In a previous interview with Daily Hive, Benjamin Jackson, the man behind creating The Penthouse’s legendary signs, said he was “shocked” by X’s decision.
The strip club’s X account was restored after a few days, and in response, Jackson said he was relieved and that his only intention with the sign was to “make people laugh.”
