Vancouver's 5th annual Street Dance Festival returns this weekend

Jul 27 2016, 12:21 am

Break dancing, popping, waacking, locking, hip-hop – these are a few of the dance styles you can expect to see as competitors go head-to-head in Vancouver’s fifth annual Street Dance Festival.

The Vancouver Street Dance Association puts on the event in Robson Square and features musical performances, free workshops, vendors, and, of course, an open dance floor.

At the end of the event, an epic dance battle will take place.

The Vancouver Street Dance Association says this is the largest street-dance event in Western Canada and is meant to bridge the gap between an underground community and the general public.

The schedule is tentatively set as follows:

  • Two workshops are set for noon and 3:30 pm
  • Live musicians play at 2 and 5:30 pm
  • Crew battle showcase takes place from 5 to 5:30 pm
  • Judge showcases and dance battle finals are from 6:30 to 7 pm

So come out and bust a move – no experience required.
