Teenager arrested after fight on bus leads to stabbing in East Vancouver

Witnesses intervened in a violent incident that began on a bus in East Vancouver last night.

According to Vancouver Police, a fight on a TransLink bus broke out at approximately 9 pm before spilling out on the streets on Commercial Drive near Venables Street. A 15-year-old suspect allegedly stabbed a 32-year-old victim before being subdued by witnesses.

Other witnesses in the area provided their assistance by calling 9-1-1 and providing first aid to the victim until paramedics were able to arrive.

The victim is in hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. The suspect remains in police custody.
