Vancouver in store for a soggy weather week with a tiny chance of sun

Dec 5 2025, 6:43 pm

While some parts of B.C. are getting wintry, snowy weather, Vancouver is getting, well, Vancouver weather for the foreseeable future.

Raincouver is in full force for the next week, according to the weather forecast from Environment and Climate Change Canada; however, there is a chance we’ll get a glimpse of the sun this weekend.

Today, Vancouver is expected to be hit with up to 15 mm of rain, and there’s a chance of showers for the remainder of the weekend.

Saturday will be mainly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers, the one day that ECCC shows a hint of sunshine. However, as we’ve seen in recent weeks, there’s a chance we’ll see more blue sky than what the forecast suggests.

For the rest of the week, it’s more rain and a gradual decline in temperatures, but nothing close to freezing, with the nearest being lows of 5˚C overnight expected on Wednesday and Thursday next week.

When could Vancouver be hit with snow or more winter-like weather?

Daily Hive recently spoke to ECCC Meteorologist Derek Lee, who told us that the first bit of December is expected to be warmer than usual, but that a cooling trend could make its way to mark the end of the year.

The pattern becomes harder to predict in the second half of December,” Lee told Daily Hive. “We may see lower temperatures than normal and a cooler trend by the end of the month.

“There is a possibility that this trend continues in January. La Nina is pretty weak at the moment, so there could be a delay in when it starts.”

Some parts of the province are facing a snowfall warning. Arrow Lakes, which is closer to Calgary than it is to Vancouver, is currently facing a snowfall warning with up to 15 cm of snow expected to hit the area.

There’s also a snowfall warning in store for Highway 1 between Sicamous and Revelstoke with the chance for up to 20 cm of snow to hit the area.
