Another blanket of snow has covered the Lower Mainland after snowfall began during the early morning hours of Sunday. But it is far from over.
Between 2 cm and 4 cm fell overnight in Metro Vancouver, and throughout the day into the night another layer between 5 cm and 10 cm can be expected, according to Environment Canada. It was cold enough that downtown Vancouver, an urban heat island, even saw a fresh layer of snow accumulation.
Some areas, mainly higher terrain in the eastern areas of the region, could see up to 20 cm of snow by tonight.
However, enjoy it while it lasts – after two weeks of sub-zero temperatures and repeat snowfall events, the great melt is now just hours away. Temperatures will soar to 7°C by Monday and snowfall will transition into rainfall.
