Police incident sparks early morning SkyTrain chaos in downtown Vancouver

Apr 28 2026, 4:14 pm

SkyTrain commuters headed downtown this morning might have been delayed getting to their destination due to a police incident.

According to TransLink, a track intrusion alarm impacted service between Stadium SkyTrain and Waterfront SkyTrain stations.

SkyTrain service has been temporarily suspended between those stations, as service is terminating at Stadium.

To aid commuters, TransLink has implemented extra bus service.

“Staff are in place at Stadium–Chinatown Station; the buses will be serving Granville, Burrard, and Waterfront Stations,” TransLink told Daily Hive Urbanized.

We’ve also reached out to the Vancouver Police Department for more information about the police incident.

A SkyTrain attendant suggested that for folks wanting to get to downtown from Stadium, the quickest bet may be to walk.

Many have taken to X to share their feelings about the incident.

We’ll update this story when we receive more information. In the meantime, you can follow TransLink on X for the latest transit updates.

Update:

As of around 9:30 a.m., TransLink says that the issue has been resolved.
