Shambhala Music Festival offers unique mix of Mother Nature and music

Jul 25 2019, 6:27 am

The much anticipated Shambhala Music Festival, taking place August 9 to 12, is set to continue its tradition of mixing music and Mother Nature in Salmo River, British Columbia.

Dating back to 1998, the festival has provided a unique blend of music, nature, and most of all, community. What started as a small gathering of 500 people at Salmo River Ranch has since grown into one of the most renowned electronic festivals on the West Coast, attracting some of the worlds best DJs and electronic artists, as well as over 17,000 attendees each year.

Since its inception, the Bundschuh family have continued to stress the importance of a safe, nature-friendly event, which respects the beautiful land and wildlife of Salmo River.

Every year, thousands of workers and volunteers work to turn the ranch into the largest city in the West Kootenays for the weekend. The event is run entirely without the aid of corporate sponsors, which means you won’t see a single advertisement or corporate logo on the entire farm. This ultimately allows for the event to achieve its goal of creativity, sustainability, and community.

In addition to some of the best music out there, the Shambhala experience contains a variety of workshops, art galleries, and soulful yoga classes aimed to cultivate the inner peace and imagination of each individual.

Shortly after the departure of attendees, the campgrounds return back to hay-fields, and the forest returns to its quiet solace where cows roam in open trails and fish swim freely along the river.
