Vancouver seawall death result of a "bizarre incident" say VPD

The Vancouver Police Department say the death of a 46-year-old cyclist on the seawall is the result of a bizarre incident.

On Wednesday, January 6 at around 8:30 p.m., the VPD were called to assist a cyclist who was found unconscious on the Vancouver seawall near Science World. Witnesses say a man was going through a garbage can and tossing trash out of the bin. A passing cyclist was struck by a heavy object thrown from the trash, causing him to fall face-first onto the pavement.

He was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but succumbed to his injuries this morning at around 4 a.m. The man throwing items from the bin left the scene before paramedics arrived.

Now the VPD are seeking to speak with the trash-thrower. He’s described as Aboriginal, 30 to 40 years old, 6 feet tall with a medium build and shoulder-length black hair. He was wearing a black puffy jacket and dark jeans.
