Vancouver School Board to consider week-long break in November

Local students could get a week-long break from school in November if the Vancouver School Board approves a proposed plan by district managers.

The closure would extend the already planned closures scheduled for Monday, November 10 and Remembrance Day on Tuesday, November 11, adding three additional days to give both students and faculty a week-long break just one month before the two-week long Christmas holiday.

School board officials cite a $13 million budget deficit is to blame, but for parents it means they will have to rearrange their schedules to take off time work or find the financial means for childcare.
