Two special coins are up for grabs at multiple Metro Vancouver exchange events between today and Saturday.
According to the Royal Canadian Mint, folks in Vancouver and Richmond have the opportunity to exchange their own coins for limited-edition $1 and $2 coins.
The two coins are inspired by the FIFA World Cup and the CN Tower’s 50th Anniversary.
The FIFA $1 coin is adorned with a red and orange maple leaf, a FIFA logo, and a soccer ball in motion with Toronto and Vancouver listed underneath it. It also says FIFA World Cup 26 at the top of the coin.
“With Host Cities Toronto and Vancouver welcoming the world, the passion of the beautiful game is everywhere in Canada,” the Mint said.

The CN Tower $2 coin is only the second glow-in-the-dark circulation coin.
“Each Colourized Special Wrap Roll contains 25 of these colourful glow-enhanced collectibles, and every one of them offers the same fun view of the Tower-dominated Toronto skyline—past, present, and, when viewed in the dark, aglow at night,” the Mint says.

Aside from the two exchange events in Vancouver and Richmond, other similar events are taking place around Canada.
The Vancouver event is on Thursday, June 4, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Vancouver Main Retail Store at 495 West Georgia St.
“Coin limit per person in place, while supplies last. Quantities are limited. Coin exchanges are cash only transactions, any Canadian circulation coin or banknote denomination is acceptable. No admission charge to participate in this event,” the Mint says.
The Richmond event has two dates, including June 5 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and June 6 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Both events take place at the Lansdowne Centre’s Express Lane Post Office, at 942-5300 No. 3 Rd.
