There are some amazing local eateries that are giving Vancouverites the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone by buying groceries they need while supporting local and vulnerable businesses.

Several restaurants have shifted their services, now offering pantry essentials and grocery staples alongside ready-made meals to take home, in addition to selling wine, beer, and other provisions you might need while sticking around at your crib.

Our favourite spots are getting creative, and their array of offerings is growing by the day.

Flourist is offering free local delivery and pick-up for some great pantry staples. This spot offers milled flour (make sure it’s in stock), premium dry goods like lentils and chickpeas, eggs, salt, olive oil, and ready-to-eat treats, just to name a few.

Order today, pick up tomorrow. Livia is offering patrons a selection of sourdough, pastries, breakfast, lunch and dinner options, along with wine and beer. You can get delightful lunch boxes and complete meal kits (we’re talking Spaghetti Carbonara and Tagliatelle alla Bolognese) to bring home and make too.

Harvest’s CSA (community supported agriculture) bag program is an awesome thing to try right now if you haven’t already. These $35 bags are sized for two and contain veggies, seasonal foods, dried organic fruit, grains, and heirloom legumes, to name a few. Harvest’s sister spot, Burdock & Co, also offers CSA bags now, along with fresh house-made provisions like broths, yogurt, granola, and wine. All of these offerings must be pre-ordered before a designated pick-up time.

East Vancouver gem La Tana has some amazing groceries available for purchase alongside meal kits like pizza and pasta-making combos and heat-and-serve dishes as well. Folks can call or email their orders for groceries (to be picked up 10 am to 4 pm) or order grub and meal kits online from both La Tana and its sister spot, Pepino’s.

This BLVD Provisions line offers individual items and curated packages too. Morsels such as Japanese Wagyu Galbi sausage, sous vide cooked chicken breasts, and homestyle Chicken Cacciatore can be picked up here. In addition to these items, the eatery has Provision Packs with vacuum-sealed proteins like Prime New York Striploin, Wild Ling Cod, and Wild Coho Salmon, soups, sauce, sides, veggies, and its signature cornbread.

Keep an eye on Matchstick’s socials, because this much-loved coffee spot recently added a grocery section to their website. Due to overwhelming demand, Matchstick has temporarily removed the grocery offerings until they can catch up, but you can order their amazing coffee in the meantime.
