
Patrons of a Vancouver restaurant on Main Street got a bit of a scare after a man allegedly threatened people nearby and did some damage to the establishment.
According to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), the alleged incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, Aug. 6.
Police say that a man has been arrested after threatening people with an axe near Main Street and East 24th Avenue.
VPD received reports that the man was throwing cutlery toward a restaurant storefront and smashing plates on the restaurant’s patio.
Officers were able to locate the suspect nearby within minutes.
With the help of the VPD Canine Unit, the 29-year-old man was taken into custody.
“The suspect was taken to hospital with injuries before being released on an undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date,” VPD said.
Due to privacy concerns, VPD is not sharing the name of the Vancouver restaurant.
