On May 15, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) reported that a “senior citizen” was critically injured in a ramming incident that occurred near Nelson Park.
Now, over a week later, the VPD has shared that the victim succumbed to his injuries and passed away on May 24.
Police called it a “vehicle-borne attack” that took place on Friday, May 15, in the early morning hours at around 5:30 a.m. The vehicle was observed “driving erratically” in the area of Comox and Broughton streets. Police say the driver struck numerous objects, including in a dog park.
The senior citizen who has now passed was riding a motorized scooter at the time, and VPD said he wasn’t able to evade the driver.
Two police officers were also injured during the Vancouver ramming incident after the suspect drove into a police vehicle, flipping his own vehicle in the process.

A few days after the incident, VPD shared that the suspect, 34-year-old Tadd Bali, was charged with four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and that the suspect had extensive interactions with police prior to the incident in B.C. and Saskatchewan.
Bali’s charges may change considering the victim who passed.
“Vancouver Police have notified Crown counsel and are in the process of submitting evidence for consideration of additional charges,” VPD said.
Bali is still in custody.
Daily Hive received an email from a reader who shared that there is a memorial at the northwest corner of Comox and Bute that was set up by the victim’s son, with some flowers and the victim’s picture.
