Break out your rainbow workout gear. It’s time to show your pride and get a sweat on at the same time.

Here are some fun workouts happening around Vancouver leading up to Pride Week.

Vancouver Frontrunners Pride Run & Walk

Pride Run & Walk

What: Local LGBTQ+ running/walking club Vancouver Frontrunners hosts this annual 5k run/walk and 10k fun run. It’s an easy, scenic out-and-back route from Second Beach, perfect for all abilities. Get ready to dance while you hydrate at the Disco Water station at the 5K race turnaround point. Not only are they promoting inclusivity and fun, they are also fundraising for Out in Schools and the LOUD Foundation’s Pride Youth Scholarship Fund.

Free yoga at Picnic in the Park with YYoga

YYOGA

What: Join YYOGA instructor Hillary Keegan for free all-levels flow classes at Picnic in the Park. Bring your own mat for a session (or two) of outdoor yoga. Once you’re limber and re-invigorated, enjoy the rest of the festivities at Second Beach including live music, food trucks and more. Don’t forget to stop by the YYOGA booth for a chance to win prizes between 12 PM and 5 PM.

SOULCycle Charity Pride Ride

What: SOULCycle is already known for taking indoor cycling to the next level with their high energy, party-like atmosphere. When you add a real DJ into the mix, you’d be mistaking the studio for a nightclub. Check out the SOULCycle Charity Pride Ride on July 28th, hosted by the fabulous Venus at their Yaletown studio. Instructor Fraser Barke’s 45-minute workout will light a fire in your legs as you cycle to beats dropped by DJ Carolina Campos. They are also raising money and awareness for Positive Living BC, a non-profit that supports people living with HIV/AIDS.

What: What goes well with endorphins? Great music, food and new friends of course! Together with lululemon Vancouver, a local collaborative team hopes to create a queer-friendly environment that engages both mind and body. It starts off with a 45-minute all-levels bootcamp-style workout led by Johny Dyer and Shanique Kelly (aka DJ softieshan), followed by a moment of reflection accompanied by the music of special guests Jody Okabe & Desirée Dawson. Afterwards, enjoy some bites and beverages provided by Chef Chris Boreland from Elbo Patties. Entry is by donation which benefits Rainbow Refugee, a volunteer group that supports people seeking refuge from persecution due to sexual orientation and gender expression. Certainly not a bad way to kick off Pride weekend.

What: Run through the streets of Mount Pleasant and see some amazing public art at the MEC x VMF Run the Murals event. This run, in collaboration with the Fraser Street Run Club, will include a 2 km and 5 km route where you’ll be able to bask in the colourful creations of local artists. Once you’ve caught your breath, head over to the VMF Gallery for some post-run snacks and drinks. Sounds like a great way to spend a Friday night. Space is limited so register quickly.

Barre Belle celebrates PRIDE

What: Work out like a dancer with Barre Belle at their Kitsilano studio. Not only will you be breaking a sweat, instructor Sean Def’s Barre Belle Fit class will be done to anthems that will make you want to dance. Registration is by donation and will support QMUNITY, a non-profit organization that aims to improve the lives of queer, trans, Two-Spirited people.
