All aboard! The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is bringing Port Day back to Canada Place on Saturday, Aug. 29, giving guests the chance to dive into the world of Canada’s maritime industry.
Running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event will transform the waterfront into a lively festival packed with activity zones, music, interactive exhibits, and plenty of family-friendly fun.
If you’ve been dreaming of a career out on the wide open sea or just looking for a fun way to spend the last week of summer, there’s lots to explore.
What to expect at Port Day
One of the biggest highlights is the North Point Stage, where live music acts, including Vancouver alternative rock band Fake Shark, will keep the energy going throughout the day.
Families can enjoy the Explore Zone, featuring everything from a bouncy castle for younger kids to Ocean Wise’s Sea Dome and other interactive experiences.
Then, at 1 p.m., Burrard Inlet will become the centre of the action with exciting on-water marine demonstrations showcasing world class skills and coordination.
You’ll also be able to enter contests throughout the day for the chance to win prizes — including a seven-day Holland America Line Alaska cruise for two. Not bad, eh?!
Explore maritime careers
Thinking about a career at sea? The Maritime Career Zone will feature organizations showcasing careers across Canada’s marine sector, with opportunities to learn about working aboard ships and shore-side operations.
This is also a great chance to meet face-to-face with the people that help keep Canada’s ports running.
With live entertainment, waterfront views, and activities for all ages, Port Day is a fun way to wrap up summer while discovering a side of Vancouver you might not know too much about!
