Vancouver Police are looking for witnesses to an early morning hit-and-run collision that has left one woman in hospital with serious injuries.

Around 6:30 on the morning of September 16th, a 49 year old Asian woman was walking south on Main Street, crossing SW Marine Drive in the crosswalk, when she was hit from behind by an unknown vehicle.

The woman was knocked to the ground and suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to hospital by paramedics and is now in stable condition.

After hitting the woman, the vehicle went over the curb and crashed into a mailbox located on the sidewalk on the southeast corner of the intersection.

“We believe that there are witnesses out there that saw this car hit the mailbox, but were unaware there was also a pedestrian struck by the vehicle,” says VPD spokesperson, Sergeant Randy Fincham.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the Vancouver Police Department Hit and Run Unit at (604) 717-2989.
