Vancouver Police are investigating the city’s first homicide of 2021 after a person was stabbed in the early morning hours of January 31.
Police said officers were called to the Gastown Hotel on Water Street at approximately 5:30 am on Sunday.
When they arrived at the at the a single-room occupancy building, officers discovered that two people had been stabbed.

A 40-year-old from Vancouver died at the scene, police said.
The second victim, a 28-year-old from Vancouver, was taken to hospital with injuries that are described as “serious but not life-threatening.”
Police said a 48-year-old Vancouver man was arrested nearby and remains in custody.
