The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is releasing details about an incident that occurred at the Pacific Coliseum on Thursday night.

According to a post on X from the department, a person was arrested after they drove their vehicle into the Pacific Coliseum. VPD said the incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m.

Police added that an event was taking place at the venue. That event is the second night of the Cirque du Soleil CRYSTAL show. The show would’ve been well underway when the incident occurred. Security detained the suspect until officers arrived on the scene to arrest him. He was then taken to the hospital.

VPD has also shared that the suspect is a 30-year-old man from Vancouver.

As of 10 p.m. on Thursday, VPD said there were no reported injuries. A VPD spokesperson is expected to share more details at a conference at the coliseum at 11 p.m.

Although it is very early in the investigation, this does not appear to be an act of terrorism. The driver was apprehended under the Mental Health Act,” VPD added.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
