Ben Lee (check out his work www.benleephoto.com, it’s amazing) is a Vancouver photographer who has now taken his photography skills abroad. As another young photographer, Ben has many, many years of greatness ahead of him.
We had a chance to ask Ben a few questions, here is what he had to say:
Vancity Buzz: Your now based out of London, how long has it been since you left Vancouver?
Ben Lee: I moved to London about 3 months ago and loving every second of it!
VcB: Do you ever plan on coming back to Vancouver full time?
Ben: I don’t really have a plan to do so at the moment.
VcB: What led you to become a photographer and how long have you been a photographer ?At what point did it become serious?
Ben: Art has always been a huge part of my life; I’ve been drawing and playing piano since a young age. I also have a strong interest in business, thus I pursued marketing and finance at McGill University for my undergraduate.
Growing up, I always knew my future job will be something creative with a splash of business, but I just didn’t know what it would be. During my first summer off at McGill, I started a small business in Montreal and I bought a digital camera with the first batch of money I made. I took the camera everywhere with me and shot at absolutely everything. I posted a bunch of photos online and some people started hiring me for event photography. Then it all went from there.
As soon as I finished my undergraduate degree, I moved back to Vancouver and started my photography business.
I am happy to say that I’ve found photography as it gives me that perfect balance between art and business.
VcB: If there was one person, place or thing you could photograph who or what would it be?
Ben: Be on the moon to photograph the earth and the moon’s terrain. Still somewhat realistic during my lifetime, isn’t it?
Here is a brief look at Ben’s vast portfolio:
