The outdoor marijuana festival, which takes place on April 20, moved from its usual spot from the Art Gallery to Sunset Beach last year due to the event’s growing crowds
Organizers of last year’s event did not have a special permit for the marijuana gathering.

This year, event organizers submitted a special event permit application with a smoking by-law exemption request.
According to a Park Board report, staff are aware that the “420 celebratory protest event will be occurring at Sunset Beach Park regardless of whether the Park Board approves the special event permit and by-law exemption that has been requested by the organizers.”
