Vancouver Park & Beaches Smoking Ban in Effect

Dec 19 2017, 12:35 pm

The City of Vancouver has joined the growing list of cities in North America and worldwide that have decided to ban smoking in parks and beaches. That’s 224 places in total to be exact. This ban makes sense I suppose, especially where kids are playing around and what not. However, I question how enforceability of this ban, just like driving while talking on your cell phone, and enforcing cyclists to wear helmet, I believe it will be difficult. Further, the ban does not apply to pot, but that’s illegal anyways, right? Vancouver’s ban takes effect today, September 1, 2010.

The list of places impacted includes beaches, golf courses, playgrounds, sports fields, trails, seawall, business and attractions, and parking lots that are within the boundaries of a park.
