Vancouver's Olympic Cauldron is being relit to celebrate 10th anniversary of the Winter Games

Vancouver’s Olympic Cauldron is being re-lit on Wednesday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

An anniversary celebration is being hosted at Jack Poole Plaza and will include former Canadian Olympic athletes including Mercedes Nicoll, a four-time Olympic snowboarder, and Jennifer Heil, a three-time Olympic freestyle skier.

The festivities will include a cauldron lighting ceremony and several other special guests sharing their memories of the 2010 games. Members of the public are invited to join in the celebration and to wear red and white to honour the athletes, staff, and participants of the games.

The singing of the national anthem will also take place once the cauldron is lit.

The 10th anniversary celebration will take place on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. The event begins at 8:45 am and will be lit from 9 to 11 am.
