Vancouver Musical Acts Team Up to Fight Blood Cancers

Dec 19 2017, 1:22 pm

Once again, local musicians and athletes are teaming up next month to take on some of the world’s most deadly diseases. Vancouver singer Lexi Thomas and DJ Lando will be joining forces with budding Lower Mainland triathletes to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada at a benefit concert Feb. 9.

For the second year in a row “Fun 2 Cancer 0” concertgoers will get a chance to see some of Vancouver’s hottest up-and-coming artists while at the same time raising funds for a great cause, say organizers.

“Fun 2: Cancer 0 is a unique collaboration between Vancouver’s artistic and athletic communities,” said event organizer Greg Mitchell. “Blood cancers kill thousands of Canadians every year. This concert is a great way to raise funds to find a cure for blood cancers while improving the lives of both patients and their families.”

All proceeds from the concert will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada’s Team in Training fundraising program. These funds support critical blood cancer research and patient services. Team In Training trains participants to complete full and half marathons, triathlons, century rides and other endurance events. This is Greg’s second time participating with Team In Training at the Lavaman Triathlon event on the Big Island of Hawaii April 1.

Tickets to next month’s event are $20, available at the door. Price includes admission, a drink, and entry in a draw for a pair of Canucks tickets. Other prizes will be available as part of a fundraising raffle for rounds of golf, gift certificates and other prizes.
