For many the May long weekend is the unofficial start of summer. Many Vancouverites will pack their bags and head out of town, hopefully you won’t be stuck in traffic for too long. For those of us staying at home there are a bunch of things to do for people of all ages. Here is our quick run down of May Long Weekend Events:
Saturday May 21, 2011
Night Markets a great time for young and old. There’s a large one in Richmond and another one in Vancouver’s historic Chinatown.
- Richmond Night Market
- Chinatown Night Market
- 2011 Cloverdale Rodeo
- Jimmy Eat World at the Commodore Ballroom
Sunday May 22, 2011
- For many the Canucks vs Sharks game will be the only thing on their minds. Watch it at one of the many bars in town or at the Commodore Ballroom (call to get tickets, they are free but you have to reserve tickets). You can also watch it live on the street in front of CBC Vancouver.
- Kitsilano Farmers Market
- Plus the rodeo and night markets are still going on.

Take the day to relax. If the weather calls for it, relax and have a few beers at a patio or if it’s warm enough go to one of the many beaches in the city. If it’s raining, stay in bed and recover from the weekend or perhaps get your spring cleaning done.
