A Vancouver man has become a viral sensation with his giant rubber ducky pool toy.

Will McKenzie was on vacation in Palm Springs last week with his wife and 16-month-old daughter.

McKenzie was hoping for a week of California sunshine. But the warm weather was overtaken by heavy rain and McKenzie’s golf trip fell apart.

McKenize wanted to make the best of it, so he grabbed the large rubber ducky pool toy from the backyard of his vacation rental, and decided to take a ride down the flooded street. His wife recorded his antics, and the video has since gone viral.

McKenize told Daily Hive he did it to entertain his daughter. “She loves animals. Every morning she would get up and pound on the glass at the pool and point at the duck,” he said.

With the heavy rain, McKenzie said the streets became like a “lazy river.”

“So I thought it might be fun to do some runs down the front (of the house),” he said. His daughter stood at the window and watched in delight.

“I was trying to find ways on a rainy day to get her some laughs and make the most of it,” McKenzie said.

The video ended up catching the attention of news crews in Palm Springs, and McKenzie’s rubber ducky antics immediately went viral, with millions of views on the news station’s Facebook page. “I was shocked… I was just trying to entertain the family,” he said.

McKenzie, who is originally from Vancouver, says the rainy Palm Springs weather did not bother him at all. “Being from Vancouver, I am still going to go out and play in the rain.”
